BSc. Midwifery – Entry Points
Applicants seeking admission into the Bachelor of Science in Midwifery (BSc Midwifery) programme may qualify through any of the following entry points:
Applicants seeking admission through WASSCE or SSSCE must meet the following requirements:
- Applicants must be between 16 and 35 years of age.
- Applicants above 35 years may be considered where they are serving health workers and provide an official letter from their employer.
- Applicants must obtain an aggregate score of 36 or better.

Applicants must have grades A1–C6 in WASSCE or A–D in SSSCE (or equivalent) in:
- Three (3) Core Subjects: English Language, Core Mathematics and Integrated Science.
- Three (3) approved Elective Subjects.
A combination of SSSCE and WASSCE results are not acceptable.

Biology, Chemistry, Physics, Mathematics (Elective), French, ICT and Geography,
General Arts Option
West African Traditional Religion/Christian Religious Studies/Islamic Religious Studies. Literature – In –English, French/ Arabic, Geography, Government, History, Economics, Mathematics (Elective), ICT, One Ghanaian Language and General Knowledge –In – Art.
Agriculture Option
General Agriculture, Biology, Chemistry, Physics, Mathematics (Electives), ICT and French.
Home Economics Option
Management in living, General Knowledge –In – Art, Food and Nutrition, French, Economics, Chemistry, Biology, Physics and Mathematics (Electives)
Applicants who hold a Diploma in Midwifery from an institution recognised by the Ghana Tertiary Education Commission (GTEC) and the Nursing and Midwifery Council of Ghana (NMC) may apply.
Applicants must have a minimum FGPA of 2.5.
Applicants holding a Nurse Assistant Clinical (NAC) Certificate from an institution recognised by GTEC and NMC Ghana may apply.
- Applicants must have a minimum FGPA of 2.5.
- Must complete a mandatory six-week Access programme with the university.
- Applicants seeking admission through the NAC Top-Up route must have completed at least three (3) years of post-auxiliary clinical practice.
Admission Requirements for Foreign/International Students
International applicants seeking admission into the basic midwifery programmes must satisfy the following requirements:
Academic Requirements
Applicants must have:
- WASSCE/SSSCE or an equivalent qualification.

An aggregate score of 36 or better, comprising grades A1–C6 in WASSCE or A–D in SSSCE (or equivalent) in:
- Three (3) Core Subjects: English Language, Mathematics and Integrated Science.
- Three (3) approved Elective Subjects.
Additional Requirements
- Applicants must be between 16 and 35 years of age.
- Applicants must have their certificates and academic transcripts evaluated and interpreted by GTEC and WAEC, where applicable.
- Applicants applying for a Post-Basic programme must complete the required professional verification process.
