BSc. Midwifery (Undergraduate)
Entry Requirement
The programme has the following entry qualifications.
WASSCE
- Applicants must be between 16 and 35 years of age.
- Applicants above 35 years of age must be serving health workers with letters from their employers.
- Applicants must obtain an aggregate score of thirty-six (36) or better, comprising grades A1–C6 (WASSCE) or A–D (SSSCE), or their equivalence, in the following subjects:
Three (3) Core Subjects: English Language, Core Mathematics, and Integrated Science.
Three (3) Approved Elective Subjects: Grades A1–C6 (WASSCE) or A–D (SSSCE), or their equivalence.
Elective Subjects
The approved elective subjects are listed below:
Science Option
Biology, Chemistry, Physics, Mathematics (Elective), French, ICT and Geography,
General Arts Option
West African Traditional Religion/Christian Religious Studies/Islamic Religious Studies. Literature – In –English, French/ Arabic, Geography, Government, History, Economics, Mathematics (Elective), ICT, One Ghanaian Language and General Knowledge –In – Art.
Agriculture Option
General Agriculture, Biology, Chemistry, Physics, Mathematics (Electives), ICT and French.
Home Economics Option
Management in living, General Knowledge –In – Art, Food and Nutrition, French, Economics, Chemistry, Biology, Physics and Mathematics (Electives)
NB
- Please note that a combination of SSSCE and WASSCE results is not accepted.
- Applicants may combine results obtained over a maximum of three (3) WASSCE sittings.
- Subjects not included in the approved list above will not be considered for admission.
Diploma Entry
Applicants must possess a Diploma in Midwifery awarded by an institution recognised by the Ghana Tertiary Education Commission (GTEC) and the Nursing and Midwifery Council (NMC) of Ghana, with a minimum GPA of 2.5.
The following documents would be required:
- Academic Transcript.
- A valid NMC PIN.
- NMC Certificate.
- Birth Certificate (Biometric)
- WASSCE results or their equivalent.
NB
Applicants who hold a Diploma in Midwifery and wish to pursue the alternate discipline will be admitted to a three (3)-year programme.
Nurse Assistant Clinical (NAC) Entry
Applicants must possess a Nurse Assistant Clinical Certificate awarded by an institution recognised by the Ghana Tertiary Education Commission (GTEC) and the Nursing and Midwifery Council (NMC) of Ghana, with a minimum GPA of 2.5.
The following documents would be required:
- Academic Transcript.
- A valid NMC AIN.
- NMC Certificate.
- Birth Certificate (Biometric)
- WASSCE results or their equivalent.
NB
- Applicants seeking admission into the NAC Top-Up programme must have completed three (3) years of post-auxiliary clinical practice.
- Applicants must also complete and pass a six-week access course with the school.
