FAMILY HEALTH UNIVERSITY PLASTIC – FREE INITIATIVE

The Medical Students Association (MSA) of Family Health University (FHU), in collaboration with Maiden Environmental Services, has launched an eco-friendly initiative to promote environmental sustainability on campus.

This initiative aims to transform FHU into a plastic-free environment by encouraging responsible waste management and reducing plastic pollution.

Mr. Elorm Narter Lawer, a fifth – year medical students and the Vice President of MSA at FHU, spearheads this groundbreaking initiative.

The collaborative project between MSA 2024/2025 Team and Maiden Environmental Services aims at instilling a culture of recycling among students, reduce campus waste and promote responsible waste management. Strategically placed across campus, the recycle stations will ensure convenience, accessibility and effective waste segregation, making it easier for everyone to embrace sustainable practices.

Dr. Sampson Opoku, Head, Community Health Department, FHU, speaking at the launch, commended the brain behind the initiative and executives of MSA. 

He added that through this initiative, the practice of recycling will be normalized and becoming a daily practice on campus and beyond. Again, he reinforced the vital role healthcare professionals play in championing environmental sustainability. 

Faculty, students and Executives of MSA, expressed their heartfelt gratitude to Maiden Environmental Services for their invaluable partnership and support in bringing this vision to life. Present at the launch included, Dr. Patience Aniteye, Dean of the School of Nursing & Midwifery, Dr. Sampson Opoku, Head of Community Health Department, FHU, Madam Adwoa Adubea Koram, Assistant Registrar, FHU, Mr. Moses Kwao , School Administrator, FHU, Madam Joana Agyare, Administrator, Family Health Hospital, and a section of the students.
